Happy 2014
Just back from a Winter Road Trip to Holly Springs in Georgia and east to Charleston South Carolina for some New Year southern charm.
We had a nice visit with family and spectated a bowling birthday party for my pal's friend.
There was fist bumps, slaps on the back, butt shaking, fancy footwork and chocolate cake.
The road took us past Gatlinburg Tennessee. We met a guy selling all kinds of rocks, glass chunks, and large amazing piles of petrified wood. A couple of nice pieces of obsidian and some heat tempered chirt will find their way to Ocala Florida and be fashioned into arrowheads.
Along the way we found Maurices BBQ. Near Columbia South Carolina, just off the interstate about a mile. The place is sitting in the middle of all the typical interchange gas stations, pawn shops, auto parts stores, fast food and fireworks. Piggie Park (aka Maurices BBQ) has been here since 1939.
On New Years Day we decided to take a nice drive. Eight hundred and some odd miles later and we are back in Millsburg.
The seven inches of snow sitting on negative three degrees makes for a bracing adventure to open the front door!
Happy to see us and gain access to more piles of seed, the birds are standing room only in the feeders. It is so cold that blue jays are actually sharing the feeder with other normal birds.
