Summer Road Trip

Thirty years ago we enjoyed watching Chevy Chase in the classic road trip flick "Vacation". The open road leading to Wally World. Today LKD and I have loaded up the car and are heading south to Dolly World... Nashville TN.

Our plan is to explore the Great Smoky Mountains as we make our way through Virginia and westward to Tennessee. After a few days we will make a trek across North Carolina to the sea shore at Kitty Hawk before heading north to Millsburg.

Assuming I can figure out how to blog using the iPad from the road there may be some updates in a few days.

FB will be checking on the mystery seeds while we are gone. The mystery seeds are blooming.

Last weekend we enjoyed the annual get together at LKD's brother's place in CT.

July in the Blink of an Eye

Seems like we were just celebrating our Independence Day. All of the sudden July is coming to a close.
The weather has been hot and humid until yesterday. The weather has now turned cool and we are enjoying temps in the mid sixties!

During the heat wave we had some visitors from Georgia. MRB and family arrived in the Big Red Truck.

LKD fed them Pancakes.

We binged watched Honey Boo Boo.

We ate pig parts.

We sweated.

We quenched our thirst.

We took hillbilly showers in the driveway.

We took a nap.
We reunited with family and friends.

Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

The celebrations for our Independence Day have concluded. The hot and hazy days this past week have rendered the residents of Millsburg semi-immobile. LKD has taken advantage of the cool mornings to gather the Mayor for a daily stick walk in the park.

The call of a street fair in Wurtsboro found us winding our way out of Millsburg to join the festivities. With the street closed to traffic we ambled along stopping in shady spots and munching on Italian Ice.

With the temperature around ninety degrees and sun blazing the BBQ activities required many cold beers.

Some Fun on the Fourth of July

Two Hundred thirty seven years since our constitution was signed and the USA was born.
In Celebration, the K's enjoyed some fun times...

The Naked One arrives in Millsburg

KK, PK and the little K's have arrived in Millsburg. Their travels from Laurel, MD took a few hours in the Odyssey Van. For some reason KK was fully clothed when he pulled into the driveway.

As luck would have it Millsburg is the epicenter of some sort of monsoon.
Waiting for any sign from above for a break in the rain, we found out that KK is not the only Naked One around here.

The creek is rising, the snails have abandoned their shells and are passing the time in saucers of beer. It is quite a sight to find Naked Snails belly up to the bar to drown their sorrows about the weather.

Serving beer to Naked Snails is actually an Aunt Nancy custom. When she lived in NJ it was happy hour every night for the seductive little slugs.

Giving up all hope for drier conditions, the Naked One's Family has loaded up for a SpashFest at Shannon Park. I am sure that there are many perfect puddles for J&J K to dip into at the playground.

Never did this with Clothes on Before

While the K's were at the park the shell-less snails had a visit from Tommy the Turtle. He was excited to meet J&J K. Tommy decided to dress for the occasion and has kept his shell on the entire time. Tommy has returned to the creek that runs along the road to Millsburg.

The K's all returned from the Park and were remarkably dry. If Uncle B had been along this would not have happened!
